Pink Floyd may not be reuniting anytime soon, except for that rare moment David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters shared during Waters’ May 12 show in London for The Wall trek. But die-hard fans of the iconic band are in for a big treat when a series of reissues – from box sets to single disc specials – hits the stands over the next two years.
First off, a highly improved edition of ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ is set to surface in the market on September 26 and is shaping to be a good material for collectors as it will be sold in various formats – a box set of six discs, a two-disc combo and of course for vintage keepers, in vinyl LP format.
November 8 is sure to be a blast for Floyd fans. A re-mastered and multi-format version of ‘Wish You Were Here’ will be dropped and will come in a two-disc set and a five-disc box set, alongside a single CD format of ‘A Foot in the Door: The Best of Pink Floyd’.
Lastly, on February 28, 2012, an extensive seven-disc set of ‘The Wall’ will be released. And for those looking for a more concise version of the acclaimed concept album, a two-disc re-mastered set will also be available on the same day.
Now that’s a sure-fire way of making themselves more endeared and unforgettable to their fans. Who knows? If everything pans out, maybe a reunion show or better yet, a new studio album might also be in the works.
