With the new year turning in a few moments, Roger Waters’ “The Wall Live” world tour has officially become one of 2011’s most anticipated live shows as the former Pink Floyd front man re-imagines the famous concept show with the rebirth of the 240-foot wall to be built right in front of the audience and a repertoire of songs spawning from the band’s 1979 concept album of the same name, including a long-awaited reunion performance between Waters and fellow Pink Floyd front man David Gilmour for the song “Comfortably Numb”.
But a special notice flashed on the singer/songwriter’s website stirs the notion that after the entire tour, a special DVD set will be released featuring the tour’s leg in London’s O2 Arena, which is set to go for six nights in May. No word yet if the rumored DVD release will push forth, but the London shows will surely be recorded.
The notice says that the six-night “The Wall Live” slate in London will be filmed, as such, the use of flash photography is strongly discouraged as it will “wipe[s] out the images projected on “The Wall”, which plays a vital role in the success of the show.
Aside from London, the tour is also slated to drop by the MEN Arena in Manchester and the O2 Arena, this time in Dublin, both of which are also scheduled for next year.
